Partnership Spotlight: Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa
November 20, 2017
We at Rainbow Foods strongly believe in the power of community involvement, inclusivity and embracing local opportunities. We deeply cherish our ongoing and continuing partnership formed with the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa (BGCO), an organization closely aligned with the values that are important to us at Rainbow Foods. As advocates of the incredible programs and services the BGCO provides to our community, we are so excited to be supporting this organization through our Spin for Kids campaign and Holiday Hamper program.
According to the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, the organization was established in 1923 and offers after school, weekend and summertime programs and activities to youth aged 6 to 18 within Ottawa across seven locations and one summer camp. BGCO creates activities and program that promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles, continual education, development of leadership and social skills and immersion in creative processes and visual arts. The incredible part about this organization is their emphasis on inclusion with their free to access, zero cost membership (Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, 2017).
With over 866 total volunteers, contributing over 30,000 hours of their time annually, combined with passionate, caring staff, this organization is comprised of individuals who truly make a difference in the 4,500 youth members of this organization (Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, 2017). Through BGCO, youth are given a safe, positive space to build relationships, develop skills and embrace new opportunities.
To celebrate the achievements and stand (or spin rather) in support of the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, we’re happy to be holding our annual Spin for Kids campaign. On Thursday, November 23, from 8:00am to 8:00pm at our Britannia location, we will be peddling a bike for twelve hours straight to raise funds for the BGCO Holiday Hamper Program.
The Holiday Hamper Program is a wonderful initiative that works to support families of the BGCO during the holiday season. Until Thursday, November 30th join us in bringing holiday happines to three local Ottawa families through monetary donations or wrapped gifts in order to create a memorable holiday for three deserving families.
Thank you immensely for extending your heart this holiday seaons when you donate online or in person at our Britannia from Thursday, November 23th to Thursday, November 30th.
