10 Allergen Friendly Products

December 17, 2017

According to an article from CTV News, allergies among both adults and children are on the rise. The article reports on findings from the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Annual Scientific Meeting stating that “almost half of all adults with food allergies report that they didn’t develop their allergies until they reached adulthood” with shellfish allergies being the largest adult-onset allergy increase affecting 44% more U.S. adults today than in 2004.

However adults are not alone when it comes to being affected by allergies. According to the same CTV News article, there has been a 21% increase in peanut allergies,18% increase in tree nut allergies and 7% increase in shellfish allergies among children since 2010.

With allergies on the rise, lets first look at the ten top allergens and identify products that have the allergen friendly stamp of approval.

The Government of Canada Canadian Food and Inspection Agency identifies ten common food allergies:

  • Eggs

  • Milk

  • Mustard

  • Peanuts

  • Seafood (fish, crustaceans, shellfish)

  • Sesame
